Toyota has revealed 2019 RAV4 details featuring best in class safety features.

With 11 variants available, each will feature the Toyota Safety Sense package including;

  • Active cruise control
  • Pre-collision safety system with pedestrian detection
  • Daylight cyclist detection
  • Road sign assist
  • Lane departure alert
  • Automatic high beam

It will also feature;

  • Blind-spot monitor
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Reversing camera
  • Front and rear parking sensors
  • Seven airbags

Continuously variable/automatic models will also see an all-speed active cruise control with lane trace assist.

The 11 RAV4 variants will be offered with a choice of four grade levels, front and all-wheel drive and three new powertrains.

The hybrid RAV4 will be available in the range starting GX, mid range GXL and the top of the range Cruiser. All three will be offered with front or all-wheel drive with a 155kW 2.5-litre petrol-electric drivetrain with a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

The 2.0-litre petrol engine making 127kW and 207Nm, hooked up to a six-speed manual or a CVT will also be available in the GX GXL and Cruiser. The GX will have the choice of a six-speed manual gearbox or CVT with launch gear. The GXL and Cruiser models are fitted with the CVT as standard.

The electric-AWD option with the same GX, GXL and Cruiser models will be powered by a new 152kW/243Nm 2.5-litre petrol engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission and uses a mechanical AWD system.

The final model will be the adventure-oriented AWD Edge with a 2.5-litre petrol engine making 152kW and 243Nm, through a mechanical all-wheel drive system and eight-speed torque converter automatic.
