Welcome to the weekly roundup of everything Formula 1! Here you will find a summary of the biggest news and announcements every week in the F1 world. After a big return to F1, there’s a lot to unpack, and with that being said, here’s the latest:

• Driver of the Day: Fernando Alonso:
Alonso and McLaren have shown what they could be capable of this season, finishing with a P5 position behind Hamilton, Raikkonen, Vettel and Ricciardo. Many are relieved and excited to see McLaren shake off their Honda cobwebs and flex. Alonso’s DotD was capped off with a stunning performance, keeping a ruthless Max Verstappen at bay, clinching P5.

• Haas Implode:
Both Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen were the victims of incorrect procedure during their respective pit-stops where a wheel failed to be locked in correctly on both occasions. Haas were on track for a stunning P4-P5 finish and needed a routine pit-stop, however ultimately Haas had to declare DNF’s for both drivers, leaving everybody wondering what-if.

• F1 and Netflix:
Formula 1 and Netflix have announced a deal that will see a season-long collaboration culminating in an original docu-series of the 2018 Formula 1 World Championship. Viewers will get to see this docu-series at the start of 2019, and will get access to the cockpits, paddock, and lives of those in Formula 1.

• ESPN Coverage Receives Backlash:
The new-era of F1 will have its kinks and quirks that will need to be ironed out, and ESPN’s coverage is going to be one of them. Many were left unsatisfied with ESPN’s broadcast of the Melbourne GP, with more-than-frequent commercial breaks at inopportune times, in addition to information not being trickled down to the viewer, sometimes hours after incidents had occurred. We hope coverage in America is tuned to something the viewer can happily digest, as ESPN’s venture into F1 will be fundamental in the growth of the sport in America.

And that wraps up everything in F1 for this week. Stay tuned next week for more from the F1 Weekly Roundup!
