Starting at $139,615 (plus on-roads), the Competition-spec M3 will cost exactly $5000 more than the entry level M3. What that will get you is improvements both mechanically and aesthetically.

The standard 19-inch alloys are upgraded to 20-inch alloys that are 10mm wider than the stock wheels. The grill, exhaust tips, mirror caps and badges also get a black finish to ensure people know you aren’t just driving a regular M3.

Inside, there’s light sports seats, head-up display, surround camera, Harmon Kardon audio, heated front seats and a 10.2inch high-res touchscreen.

Power in the M3 Competition is improved from the stock M3, increasing from 317kW up to 331kW, with 0-100km/h going from 4.2 seconds down to 4.0 seconds. The 550Nm of torque will be available between 1850rpm all the way until 5500rpm thanks to the 3.0-litre turbocharged straight six.

Overall, with adaptive suspension and an active rear diff, the M3 competition grips hard, and acceleratesΒ even harder. It has taken the M3 and vamped it up in caseΒ the stock version wasn’t enough for you. For only $5k more, the upgrades are definitely worth it.
