The 2019 Subaru Forester has been unveiled at the New York motor show. The fifth-gen Subaru Forester features an updated 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 136kW of power and 239Nm of torque.

The new Forester will have wider rear door openings giving better access to the vehicle for rear occupants, along with a larger wheelbase to give more legroom in the second row. It will also be the first Subaru to include a driver monitoring system, which will allow for the detection of signs of drowsiness or distraction and alert the driver. It can also adjust driver settings for seat position, door mirror angles, and air-conditioning preferences based on facial recognition.

Other features include rear access to USB charging ports (along with the front row), use of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, a new 8.0-inch infotainment screen with satellite navigation, updated its air-conditioning controls, seven airbags, autonomous emergency braking as standard, reverse autonomous emergency braking and rear vehicle detection.
