As with last year, Baku proved to be as chaotic as expected. Hamilton may have taken the win, but there’s so much more to dissect, and with that being said, here’s the latest:
• Aero Changes in 2019
New aero changes will be introduced in the 2019 season, and will be done so “To promote closer racing and more overtaking…”. The new aero changes will include “Simplified front wing; simplified front brake duct; and a wider, deeper rear wing”. These aero changes come in addition to a host of other changes for the 2019 season, including an increase in race fuel allowance, separation of driver weight and car weight, and the requirement of biometric gloves.
• Ferrari Under Fire
Ferrari have copped criticism from Red Bull and Mercedes regarding regulation compliance. Focus has been given to Ferrari’s mirror cladding not being under regulation, with additional focus on oil consumption and energy recovery system. Should these allegations materialise, Ferrari may find themselves in hot-water with cause for explanation and correction.
• Red Bull and Honda to Meet at Spanish GP
Red Bull and Honda are reportedly eager to agree on an engine supply deal for the 2019 season, and will undertake negotiations at the Spanish GP. First negotiations made public occurred at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, and consequent negotiations could occur all the way to the summer break before a deal is finalised.
And that wraps up everything in F1 for this week. Stay tuned next week for more from the F1 Weekly Roundup!
