Subaru have announced a recall of over 400,000 vehicles including around 25,000 locally.

Australian models include:

2013 BRZ,
2013 Forester (only 2.0-litre variants)
2012-2013 Impreza and XV models.

With an additional recall of around 5,000 Toyota 86 models, which were built by Subaru and use the same engines as Subaru’s BRZ coupe.

Subaru said in a statement, “There is a very small possibility of a valve spring fracture in a very small number of affected vehicles, which could lead to engine noise, malfunction or, in a worst-case scenario, an engine stall,”

“We are recalling the entire population of vehicles that could possibly be affected out of an abundance of caution. We want our customers to be confident in their vehicles.”

Subaru also stated that the work would be conducted free of charge and customers will be notified if their vehicle has been affected.
